Obama wants $10/hr minimum wage?

Surely this will help the poor, downtrodden, disenfranchised 99%.

You don't feel minimum wage should be adjusted for inflation?

No, the marketplace should determine the wages for a certain job.

It's only going to create a market for more labor saving devices and export more jobs overseas.

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on overtime.

I have no issues with $10 per minimums.

I have never paid anyone working for me less than that.

Lower the welfare and food stamp benefits and raise the minimum wage.

Maybe its not fair that someone who picks oranges in 90* weather makes $10K per year while someone else who screws bumpers to a car makes $100k?

Quit paying people to not work and quit letting unions run companies that they don't own.

JMO.

Of course he does. It's June of an election year, in a lackluster economy. How else is he going to buy votes and get re-elected? Special favors to Goldman Sachs and Warren Buffet only go so far...

Someone who works 40 hours per week, whose rent is $500/month, pays $250/month in automobile gas and insurance, pays $150/month in utilities, and still has $10/day left for day to day living after taxes. Grab a roommate in the same apt, and the daily allowance increases to $22/day.

Remember, minimum wage is a starting point, not an end point where people should spend a significant amount of time. If you never make it beyond minimum wage, you've got bigger problems than what the federal mandate is.

Minimum wage talk is largely irrelevant, as many in that potential employee pool just leech off unemployment and SSI "disability" instead. Cut the subsidies, and watch how fast people start appreciating opportunities for $10 and $7.50 per hour.

10/h minimum wage is gonna do nothing but depress black and teenage employment rates. There shouldn't be a minimum wage. All it does is reduce youth productivity. Maybe it's President Obama's sinister plan to reduce the amount of EITC the Federal government pays to poor people. If they don't work, then they can't get it. The few people who will see their wages go up get less. Holy ****, Obama's a ****ing conservative!

Minimum wage lowers employment for minorities and young people and contributes to inflation. Why not make it $30/hour? Wait, let me guess...without minimum wage we'd be back to SLAVE WAGES (omg omg omg)!!!!! Yeah, people made $15 a week back then but things used to cost $0.05.

I thought this was that idiot Jesse Jackson Jr's idea anyway? Yes, the same guy who wanted to outlaw ipads while he has one.

The retard doesn't realize this will only triple the workload on half the workforce. I employ over 400 people. I'd fire at least 100 of them if that happened and dump the work on the remaining workers. I'd then proceed to tell them to thank the president for the extra work. Good job Obama. Gotta love this dumba$$. He thinks the businesses are going to take the hit, but his thick socialist skull fails to comprehend that the ONLY people that are going to suffer are those he is trying to "help."

No, minimum wage should be abolished. Minimum wage is NOT a wage to make a living. It is a wage designed for entry level jobs, so that people can pick up real world work skills and move up. It is NOT for a father trying to support a 5 member family.

I would agree with you if you specified a job. I pay over 10 for a slightly skilled job but not ANY job. I also don't want to be TOLD what to pay. I pay what I think is fair. If someone doesn't like it, they can find employment elsewhere. If I am trying to fill a position, and get no candidates, then the pay is too low.

That's the problem with a lot of proponents of the minimum wage. They seem to believe that anyone working any job should be able to support themselves on that salary alone.

Who the hell can buy food, clothes, health insurance, porn, liquor, and go out on dates on $10 a day?

Oh yeah, I forgot. People who weren't lucky enough to be snatched out of a wealthy white vagina don't deserve to live a decent life.

Ramen noodles for everyone!

Just to be clear, it is your assertion that anyone at any age working any job should be able to afford "food, clothes, health insurance, porn, liquor, and go out on dates"?

That's what you are saying?

Yes, that's what I'm saying.

I'm a big fan of giving people a fair deal - especially if they show a glimmer of GAF. Don't sweat my opinion, though. You republicans are quickly turning our labor force into a typical thrid-world collective. Keep praying, and maybe one day you'll be able to abolish minimum wage and revert to slavery.

Do you think that if McDonalds could have found a way for technology to flip burgers, it wouldn't have already implemented it?

Are you really gonna take making a BigMac overseas and having it delivered to <insert_US_location_here> in less than 60 seconds. What are you hoping for, the invention of the Star Trek transporter system and its application is going to be found at fastfood joints?

Somebody in a call-center halfway around the world still can't rake your leaves.

wow drama queen ok. Well I'm glad you are capable of being up front and honest in your ridiculously inane world view. Take some business and economic courses, you're utterly clueless.
