Precisely. Which is why union bosses have a hard-on for public sector employees. Between the government, voter levees, and administrative tax hikes, they see an infinite supply of cash with little oversight that requires no sensible business model to maintain.

...Until -- of course -- a crappy economy, lower property values, and dismal employment numbers reduce tax revenues to the point where the flush monetary flow they previously enjoyed is no longer sustainable.

No. His minimum wage employees drive Bentleys.

Yes, because they probably work for cash and pay no taxes.

$10 per hour hour is obviously an exorbitant sum to pay the people who make your money for you.

How much do you want to pay your employees?

Feeling guilty because you just realized that your 400 employees are humans?

Don't go off the deep end. PM me if you need to talk. I'm here for you.

The fair amount. Do you want to know what fair is? Say I want to employ someone to slap you repeatedly. Now, this is an unskilled job, and it requires someone to have eye sight, some decent coordination, and basic motor skills. So, I put an ad in the paper and say "I need a Lair Slapper." I advertise the job at $1 an hour. The next day, no calls. I raise it to $2 an hour the following day, and once again, no calls. $3, no calls, $4, no calls, then at $5 an hour, I get 10 calls. That means $5 an hour is fair market wage for this position. It is the rate that people will do said job. That is how minimum wage works....or should work.

+1

Not to mention upping the minimum wage slaps the most unskilled (and typically the poorest) with increased unemployment, effectively doing the OPPOSITE of its intended purpose. People like to say that without minimum wage we would have people working for $1 an hour and living in the slummiest of the slums, which is crap. If you don't offer enough money, you are not going to get a worker.

Not at all. If I didn't think my 400 employees are humans, I would have fired 100 of them regardless of wage, "slaved" the rest, and looked like a rockstar to my bosses for saving them money. However, it's not 100% about money. Not one of my 400 employees are unhappy. As a result, I get better productivity, no calling in sick constantly, no no-shows, etc. That in itself saves the company money. I don't expect you to understand how to run business though. You think I drive a Bentley and suck on the wallets of my employees.

If an American can't live off of minimum wage then they should do what is necessary to get a better job and or work more hours. It isn't a corporations fault that these individuals have no drive to better themselves.

I have no problem with the minimum wage staying on par with inflation. If it was an increase once adjusting for inflation, then I would feel differently. The "free market" has shown in the past that it needs some regulation. I've seen too many cases where employers classify non-exempt positions as exempt simply to avoid having to pay them overtime, despite being in direct violation of FLSA.
