Slave cylinder question need help!

Well, I'm almost finished assembling my new motor and ready to hook everything back up get running again, however I seem to have THE WORST luck ever. My slave cylinder to my clutch lost the hydraulic piston inside it, and of course no parts stores in town carry this part.

So I am attempting to go junkyarding tomorrow morning and of course e46's are a rarity in Albuquerque.

Does anyone know if an e36 slave cylinder is compatible with the e46?? If anything, I just need that damn cylinder that goes inside it.

Very late model E36's share transmissions with the E46 including the E36 M car. You should be able to find what you need in a 98/99 E36.

Do you mean the piston fell inside the bell housing ? You'd have to get a new one or rebuild it as you cant just put it back together.

These cars share same slave:

But I would expect the E36 slave to work no problem . I havent tried it but just thinking about it, I see absolutely no issues why it wouldnt fit.

No the slave wasn't connected to the trans when it fell out. Basically, the hydraulic piston came out of the slave when the transmission was already out of the car. I have the other piece, but not the piston. it really sucks cuz I am going to have the new motor dropped in tomorrow and was really hoping to get back on the road.

Anyways, the only 3's that I saw in inventory for my local junkyard were early to mid 90's models. There is a 95 325is which I am hoping is a manual and a 99 323i. Do you think either of these cars may share a similar slave or am I just gonna have to wait and order one?
