Spark plugs

I changed my spark plugs on my 330i zhp. It used to rev at about 500 rpm and now it revs at different rpms between 500-1200. I got iridium ngk plugs and they had a different tip than the stock ones. The iridiums had 1 prong on the end and the originals had 4

There is no reason to set any gap.

OP, you need the one with 4 prongs. It came in our car for a reason.

No man, you are fvcked . People are trying to help you and you ignore the help.

Anyway, you problem is NOT the plugs, your problem is that you dont know how to work on cars becaseu you forgot to reconnect something and now your car limping and idle surging.

Our cars do NOT need iridium plugs in fact its recommended AGAINST them for stock applications.

But if one were to install them it will NEVER cause the problems you have!

You should learn how to follow advice and learn how to work on cars.

Good luck

I appreciate the help but the rudeness is unnecessary

OP, I'm sort of thinking that that one jerk in your thread might be right...and Blocked is often helpful and I think you might have taken his directness for rudeness. I say that because I often say what I think too and am often thought of as a moron!

Although you do have the wrong plug, and should check to see what gap it comes with...probably within our tolerance.

But that idle surge sounds like the result of either a bad/dirty icv, intake leak, or you did forget to plug something back in.

Not sure what you might have unplugged if you only did the spark plugs, but if you did other stuff too, let us know and we can maybe point you to other places to look for leaks.

Did you do other work along with the plugs?

Read a number of the longer threads with 'spark plugs' in the title first. IDK where there's a diy for it.

Remove cabin air filter housing, engine covers, all the nuts (I think they're nuts...might be bolts) from the coils.

Unclip coils and pull up.

Blow out spark plug wells if you can...inspect for oil and remove with rag or something

Remove plugs with longish ratchet. If stuck, go to a longer handle.

Tighten new one down to when it hits the bottom, then maybe 1/4-1/2 turn from there...go by feel. You want them tight, but not crazy tight. Don't use anti-seize.

Probably should replace coil boots alone too...they come separate from the coil.

That's my amateur diy...probably forgot many things. Oh, have good led flashlight and magnet on a stick...and don't loose the coil nuts!
