My Ride: Something
This should be made a 'must-do' yearly event! Was an awesome drive. That one piece of road and the scenery - absolutely mind blowing.

They're yellow all the way up from Harrietville and pretty much down to Omeo. I'd be more scared at those elevations without the yellow markings. The orange poles are probably more disturbing.

That's some proper stellar scenery going on there. Looks like a great drive. Time to get a bit more imaginative with the colours guys! All monotones!

....downhill. Uphill it says keep to the the right. There is a very good reason for all this, in winter the place is very snowbound and often foggy as. The poles not only show you where the buried road goes but also where not to go when you can't see more than a couple metres. Without those poles you could very easily drive over the edge and get a free (and final) ride on the roller coaster from hell over 1km to the bottom!

Ye figured they'd say keep right going the other way.

My point was they should just have a sign saying "stay on the road"

But I guess in heavy snow it's easier said than done..

Nice...if you can tell where the road is in order to stay on it!

In heavy snow you won't see the guardrails (buried) nor the road itself (covered). Add in some heavy fog and you're hard pressed to figure out where the road should be, hence the tall orange marker posts.

Having driven up there in these conditions I can promise you they are very helpful.

Looks good guys, glad you enjoyed. As i'm doing something similar end of November I am keen to hear about any tips or things to look out for, particulary around, avoiding any damage to car. i do have clear film on my bumper and partial bonnet and front guards. Any other areas you recommend for taping with blue paint?.

This is my trip over 4 days MAP

Stop overs in Jindabyne, Bright & Merimbula

Some nice stopover spots. Pity the brewery in Bright seems to be undergoing a massive expansion/renovation Make sure you have warm clothes for the cold nights.

Watch out for sharp rock falls on the Alpine Way between Khancoban and Geehi (Swampy Plains River). I see you're doing that section twice. Watchout for rockfalls also on the drop into Talbingo on the Snowy Mountains Hwy and the local copper there Depending on the time of day be very careful of the huge kangaroo population along Blowering Dam too.

Based on our experience on the weekend, I also have to add watchout for the seriously bad pot holes on the drop down from Mt Hotham towards Omeo.

Cool, so do you think from cooma its best to go up snowy mountains hwy for a run then back down into Jindy for stop over and then back the same way the next day. So hitting that road 3 times
UPDATED MAP

Cheers
