How do you go about installing these? Is it a difficult process?

I know the link says they don't work with coilovers, but if the coilover uses the stock top hat I don't see why you couldn't use them. I might have to be the guinea pig for that one.

Just ordered them, I have H&R Coilovers that use the stock spring perch so I don't see why it wouldn't work, Looks like I'm going to be the guinea pig....

Coils will lower you more than enough so don't even bother purchasing the perches. Seems like a waste of money for an extra half an inch. Spend it on a zhp knob instead .

Not really, I already have them installed and they didn't drop the car too much in the front. Probably about an inch and a half, it didn't seem right but I contacted H&R and they double checked all of my part numbers and my install and they said everything is right. So I bought these to drop them a little more.

I think you should be looking at new coilover springs.

Unfortunately H&R uses weird conical shaped springs for their Coilovers so I have no idea where I could find different springs for it. If anyone has any input that would be great. Here is a photo of how the spring looks, it uses the stock spring perch.

Must be an HnR thing. Other coils go a lot lower than that.

Yeah I know H&R's didn't lower a ton. But I really didn't expect them to be this little of a drop. If I can squeeze half an inch more out of the fronts to have zero wheel gap I'll be happy. I don't think I'd want any lower than that in the fronts.

Re: Ride Height: XI vs I

Just got them in the mail today. They seem a lot more beefed up then the stock stock spring perch. I'll be installing them tonight or tomorrow. I'll let everyone knows it goes installing them with my H&R Coilovers.

They fit! Got about 10mm of a drop from them.

I just spoke with someone from SupremePowerParts and he said that if I buy these front drop hats then I also HAVE to buy 2 NON-xi strut mounts.

Has anyone else bought these NON-xi strut mounts with the front drop hats (SUFT015) ?

This makes me a little concerned since they recommend installing strut mounts that are not designed specifically for the xi.

I'll wait for some of the experts to chime in.

bull crap. these essentially are for stock shocks. they were first tested on the e90 on stock suspension. then it was discovered that these fit every 3 series from the e30-e90 regardless if I or XI

again I'm riding with these on a stock suspension

In the table that shows ride height for the e46, I can't see the wheel size on the left. I have 17" rims on my '01 330xi, and want to know which line applies to my set-up.

I just had koni yellows and eibach pro kit springs installed along with the front drop hats and rear low-profile spring pads. At first glance it appears similar to a 330i with sport package.

Hookemducks, how's the ride with your new setup? This is the same route I'm planning on going once my current suspension starts to fail.

Hey exertismenos, I'll try to post pics soon. The look is not so impressive so far, but maybe it will improve with time. It's only been a few days. On that note, do springs tend to settle over the first several hundred miles?

Anyhow, here are my before and after numbers:

Front driver side: before-24.5 after-23.7
Front passenger side: before-24.125 after 23.5
Rear driver side: 23.75 after-22.875
Rear passenger side: 23.625 after-22.875

I was expecting the ride height to be similar to that of the 330i with sports package suspension.

Right now, the rears are just lower than i standard. The fronts are still higher than even the i standard.

As for the ride, it is only marginally compromised. My wife and daughter haven't noticed a difference, but I'm aware of the road's imperfections to a greater degree than before. I like the connectedness of it. The handling has really improved. The twisties bring a smile to my face, even when very wet. It corners flatter and is slightly more neutral than before. The rear konis are 1/2 turn from full soft and the fronts are at full soft. I went with these soft settings for my girls.

^ Hookenducks- I dropped my car off at Steve's earlier. Thanks for the recommendation. We essentially have the same set up, including the perch, except I got Bavauto springs. Ill post some pics.

Got the car back...too much drop in the rear for my taste. Although the install used the thinner 5mm upper pad instead of the thicker 14mm pad so will have it swapped out. My question - What else affect the ride height besides the springs??
