What brand and type of ATF for GM Trany

Just looking for some feedback on what ATF to use in a GM Trany. I have an 2000 528i with GM Trany. Some people said that the Valvoline Max Life works good. Or should I just go with some ATF 6?

Redline D4 is commonly used on here (myself included), although some are switching over to Redline D6, which is backwards compatible with D4 and the DIII in your transmission now. I've also heard others having success with Mobil 1 and AMSOIL ATF.

Same thing for power steering. I gradually flushed my system using Redline D4.

It's a GM transmission through and through.

When GM developed Dexron VI ATF they announced it was backward compatible with every transmission they developed using Dexron III (yours).

Personally, I'd use Dexron VI.
