Just ordered this: TV free

This is the site I ordered from:

http://www.freischaltmodul.de/

there is an Englisch version of the site too but is not completed yet.

TV and Videotext while driving for only EUR 99,00 ($ 115,00)

Thought it would be nice for my passengers...

If I'm not mistaken you can get an OEM addition to the navi system in Europe to watch tv, but because of laws you can't watch it while driving. So they wire it to the parking brake or something to make sure you're not watching while driving. Sounds like this product just gets rid of that limitation. I thought I read somewhere you could just ground that signal to your cars chassis and to the navi it seems like the e-brake is always on. No need to pay $120.

Stahlgrau, you are right partially.

In Europe we get a Tv-module with our 16/9 NAVI if we order, so we can watch television broadcasts but only when parked or the speed is below 2mph

Putting on the handbrake a little bit so that the red emergency brake warning light is on is no option... you drive more then 2mph and the screen goes blank again

Disconnecting the cable or as you say ground it to the chassis...whatever, is no option too. Yes its free of cost but your navi needs the signal to measure the cars speed and to guide you to your destination.

So we DO need a device that fools your TV-tuner module

Ah. Makes sense. I just figured it would get the cars speed from GPS but it makes sense they grab it directly. I didn't know about the 2mph thing either. Thanks!
