Nope. SMG shifts way faster. OP, you'll win. Trust me. I too have an SMG vert. Use launch control, not burnout mode.

Doesn't matter. I'll still pass both of you in my 325 after you get pulled over.

OP said this race would be done at a track. Let's believe him.

yes brothers, this will be done at a track. because i know my car can take it at high speeds, and I'm not going high speeds on the street lol. but how do i take it out of burnout mode exactly? don't i just shift at 1.9k

When you are doing launch control, don't stomp on the gas. Push it as slow as you can to the floor. Stomping it means burnout mode. You'll take him bro. Trust! I know.

The 335 will smoke the M3 ;-) Well, unless the driver of the 335 doesn't know what he/she is doing.

SMGII is faster (at redline). SMG I/SSG might be slower

I don't think so.

The ZF 6HP19Z/TU in the 135i/335i shifts at 100ms. The E46 M3 SMG II shifts at 80ms. To put that into perspective, a blink of the eye takes 400ms.

I saw this coming. Of course the forced induction engine generates more torque off the line at lower revs, so it makes sense that he initially took the lead, but it doesn't surprise me that the N54 didn't have the legs to match the S54 at high speeds.

Now if you up the boost on the 335i, things are different.

The 1M beats the e46 M3 with the factory tune.

I'm pretty sure something went wrong there. Cause an M3 coupe barely keeps up with (if at all) the 335i coupe automatic. I remember the comparisons back in the day. So either this M3 is modded or the 335i let off the gas somehow. The M3 convertible is a whole lot heavier than the coupe. This means a stock M3 coupe beats a stock 335i hands down--and it doesn't.

My Ride: M3 & 323Ci (sold)
like i said, numbers wise their 0-60 and 1/4 mile are about the same.

think it was decided by quality of tires, the launch and/or the driver

don't forget the M3 has a Limited Slip diff
