Coolant Level Issue

Hi,

I have a 2001 330i and I have been seeing an issue with the coolant level. On cold engine, the coolant level indicator turns on (and when I check the coolant level physically, the dip stick is all the way down). On a warm engine (after 2-3 minutes), the coolant level indicator goes off.

On a cold engine, when I open the bleeder, the excess air escapes and the coolant level dipstick rises to normal level.

Please explain what's going on here. Thanking you in anticipation.

Have you added coolant?

Why do you get air when you open the bleed screw?
You should be getting liquid out of that hole.

Yes, I added coolant. But after I ran the car for a few errands I see coolant spilling/overflowing to the bottom of the car onto the garage floor. And after a few days the coolant level indicator turns on.

Where does the coolant come out of when it creates your spill?

Do you have a cracked ET?
