***Official Detailing Mistakes Thread***

I thought this thread might be fun to see what stupid mistakes people have made in their detailing journey over the years. Hopefully each of us learned and has progressed but there are always funny things to look back on and think "What in the world was I thinking?"

These are all 10-15 yrs ago, but still noteworthy mistakes:

-Using a rotary buffer while working at a dealership as a porter when I was 18. No experience or training, burned right through a customers paint due to heat buildup
-Brake cleaner to clean wheels...did a great job unless it was on there for more than 5 seconds
-100% undiluted Castrol Super Clean (degreaser, concentrated APC) on an interior surface of my old Jeep. Stripped the sheen right off of a trim piece.

I'm sure there are plenty of others that I'll add as I remember them.

Post up your stories!
