One Xenon brighter than the other

Im having an issue and figured someone could maybe help out. My passenger side Xenon is noticably less bright than the drivers side. The entire drivers side has been replaced so it is newer and/or the newer on changed temp from the original 04 supplied bulb. Im unsure if its just the passenger sid eneeds a new bulb or if the ballast or something like that is bad. Both lights works fine just one is brighter. Also I need to get the plastic lence resealed because condensation builds a little inside on the passsenger side. Could this be causing the problem. Any help would be great because its really starting to piss me off everytime i see my reflection in the car in front.

I have this same problem on my 01 325i. It seems the passenger side xenon is also a little less white than the driver's side.

Well to start the OEM bulbs are the brightest temp bulbs at 4300, so that is not the problem having different temp bulbs. As the car ages the older bulb will get dimmer and have a slight color shift to a more yellowish color. The natural color shift over time will sometimes be enough to give the perception of being dimmer, so it is likely an old bulb.

It also could very well be the ballast, but these could easily be isolated by using the opposite sides parts to see if you can get a result of difference. Also you state the drivers side has been replaced, as in the whole headlight assembly? If so it is also possible the lense just needs replaced on the passenger side, as debris over the years pits the lens and scatters light everywhere instead of the concentrated beam pattern. Along with condensation and UV yellowing from sun exposure it will naturally filter the light significantly.

So there is just not one simple fix to the problem as you may also have the ZKW brand headlights in which the plastic projector bowl melts and burns over time reducing light output. It seems you have a lot of trouble shooting to do in order to single out the real problem. As it also could be a combination of some of these or all of these.

this is usually just a bulb issue and not with the ballast, but you can check the bulbs prior to buying new D2S bulbs

do you mean, you step outside to look at your headlamp, and the passenger side is brighter? or when you sit inside the car you notice it's brighter?

I have the same issue w/ my '03 325cic. My passenger side xenon is definitely not as bright as the driver's side (viewed from inside the car). On one occasion it didn't turn on at all. I thought I had a dead bulb, but the next day it turned on. Just a little more dim than the driver's side. Would love to know what's going on before I start replacing stuff $$$

Swap bulbs. Report back on your findings.
