Pioneer DEH-80PRS installed

Wow! What a head unit! It has so many awesome features. 3 way crossover adjustable for freq and slope, 16 band EQ, auto EQ, and awesome sound!

This head unit replaced my head unit, iPod adaptor, line driver, EQ/crossover, and spatial restoration unit. I lost 80lbs in stereo equipment!

The sucky part is the face won't fold down with the regular single din bezels on the market. So you have to pull off the volume knob. But who listens to CDs these days!

Great head unit...i'm about to upgrade to a P99 myself.

BTW CD's still the best SQ source in the car.

No pics. Car is being serviced right now...won't have it back for a week or so.

Yes, CDs are superior in SQ.

How does it look in the car? Guessing that you are more interested in sq, but does it look relatively normal (not bling)?

Did you consider the P9400BH or have any thoughts on it?

Not much to look at. But it's function over form.

Is it hard to pull the knob off? I was hoping to get one of the kenwoods, but crutchfield mentions a similar fit issue.

Are you able to load cds with the faceplate off?

The knob comes off pretty easily. Not a huge deal.

The fold down face might work better with some work but I'm not really concerned with it. I do like the simplicity...this replaced 4 different processors/accessories. So all I have is a head unit, 2 amps, front comps and 1 sub. It sounds fantastic but if I did some more tweaking, it would sound amazing.

Still miss my Oz audio comps.

I have the same unit and it is amazing. Expect my face plate is remotely located and the unit itself is in trunk.

You need to get the trim piece to center the unit, it will look a lot better.

I know. I could also fold down the face as well with a different plate. At this point, don't really care. I change CDs rarely then I don't complete with USACI anymore. I've been spending my time lately on trying to keep the damned car together which puts a custom faceplate very low on the to-do list priority.

Just got the engine rebuilt but all of the bugs seemed to have been worked out.

One thing about this head unit? No mute. Then it doesn't auto return to the control screen if you are adjusting some setting. So the ergonomics/ease of use is lacking. Almost as bad as the old Clarions from the 90's with the pyramid knob. Still, the SQ and adjustability of this head unit make it all worth it.

You guys with this head unit, are you having problems with the illumination colours changing as it warms up?

The buttons more so than the display, but that does change too.
This is in my Merc, but thought I would ask on here as it is an issue with amber I am having.

When I first get in the illumination is definitely amber...

However, after and hour or so it goes very, very yellow...

This is with the buttons set to custom, from memory I think it is R28 G17 B00, or something like that, it is not on any of the calm, ambient settings that do actually change.

I have that pioneer, it's great for SQ but the menu navigation is completely awful. Another thing is it does not have the ability to display titles of songs you're playing while streaming over bluetooth, kind of annoying. I stuck it in my truck but even then I might get rid of it... There is just too much to get your music to stop, play or mute and it bugs me every single time. SQ options are fantastic though, there is no denying that.

My Kenwood x996 folds down just fine but Crutchfield won't even list it if I put in my car to "see what fits". My thinking was if they only don't list it because it folds down to allow CD access, there has to be some way around it. Turns out I didn't need to do anything (see photo, ignore top trim placement though...its just velcroed while I do my install).
