Apparently she tried all of those, but didn't see if she could yank up on the accelerator. I find it odd she couldn't get into neutral since the shifter usually goes there without even using the release.
My guess is she didn't try brake + shifting either.

A running car that needs maintenance > no car at all.
And Albee's OCD > your OCD by far.
