That is NOT his car. It's what it's supposed to look like.

I'd hate to think of the cost and difficulties of restoring a Porsche. Just seeing some of the last of the 928 stuff being sold at wholesale prices is frightening. Over $10k for an automatic transmission (I think transaxle at least?) is just ridiculous.

-it's at night anyway
-I'm learning something potentially useful
-I can use shop for my own projects

What did you craft? That was almost a Matt car, lol.

The Yamaha was your own doing. You pulled a Miles on that one. No sympathy for you.

Meh, the 356's don't have too many parts so they're easy to work on. But lots of $$ is spent on body work and originality. The average restoration for a decent driver on a standard 356 coupe or cabriolet is around 60k depending on the work needed. Concours restorations can easily start around 150-200k. A few years ago, we saw a roadster the same year as mine being restored to compete in the same level of Concours that mine did. The guy was 350k+ into the restoration and it wasn't finished.

None of these prices include the actual price of the car. It's an older crowd that's into them and they've driven the prices of these things rediculiously high. Good for me I guess, but it keeps anyone in our age group from purchasing one. Which would you rather have, an old 60hp, 4cyl Porsche, or a new Ferrari?

Last week, but mostly it's just been health and safety stuff so far. I want to know why there is a perfectly fine Acura NSX with horrible paint just sitting there.

So expensive...

But the owners must be complete opposites of E30 owners.
