The F40 is beautiful, but I like things that I can drive. I don't think any F40 owner drives that car on a weekly, even monthly basis.

Just cause most F40 owners don't doesn't mean you can't. I would track it and drive it on weekends...

Nope, it's our ST-40 package with two piece rotors. Out back, it's just stock calipers my guys painted for me and soon to be some slotted rotors. Our 309. performance pads all around.

EDIT: StopTech

a guy i work with has an F430S and took track lessons to learn to drive. he sucked, went through tens of thousands of dollars worth of CC brakes and now the car just sits there. hes been trying to sell it for at least a year and its down to $120,000 now

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, I would feel bad but at the same time it's engineered/made to be tracked. Anything less and I'd feel like I wouldn't be doing it justice/would feel bad every time I walked past it in the garage. Plus, how awesome would it be to drive a mid-80s tech turbo car on the track. I'm sure it takes a lot of skill to manage that engine/boost since you have to predict what the car/engine will do once the boost kicks in / try to keep the turbo spooling in the corners.

But I guess I agree in general, when a car becomes so valuable to you that you're afraid to drive it outside or really have fun with it, it's not worth having.

Honestly, it's not a car that you want to drive on a regular basis so it works out that it wasn't built to necessarily. I know the idea sounds stupid, but when you get to the certain point with a car collection you have cars that are fun to drive every once in a while, but not something you want to live with because you'd get sick of it quickly. But in the right situation when you do drive those vehicles it's amazing You just have to know what the car was intended to do and be happy with using it in that manner. Does that make any sense?

Classic/rare/exotic cars, I see it as you are a temporary caretaker of a piece of history. Enjoy it, preserve it, but don't f*ck it up.

I like practical cars. The GT3 would go unnoticed by 99% of people. It is a car that I can drive every day and not really feel bad about it.

ugh... if you're going to track something that comes with Carbon Ceramics you're better off replacing them with steel rotors for the track.

Eh. I see where you're coming from; but if the cars sitting in the garage the whole time or only occasionally driven out to shows, what's the point? I'm talking about more pure-bred sports cars of course.

A sports car is meant to be driven. That is its sole purpose, to engage and challenge the driver. If you fvck it up you fvck it up...

I think a GT3 would not go unnoticed, it's a pretty stand-out car. I would hate driving a GT3 everyday, or any nice car for that matter. I already feel bad enough driving my 13 year old M3 around town.

I was under the impression that CC brakes were developed because they are better for the track, why does everyone that actually tracks ditch them?
