I am worried when things become exclusively digital (for the most part). Music CDs aren't there yet since some people still like to have a physical disk, but I'm willing to be that that's only about 5-10% of the market right now. Physical disks will never go away, I don't think, but in the next 10-15 years they will definitely become a novelty.

Meh, coming from the guy who lives in San Francisco...

I still like having a physical disc if I buy music, the problem is I just don't buy much music anymore. If I had to buy music, I'd probably just never listen to it.

+1 on CDs. Yes, there is FLAC but those are hard to come by. Sometimes you're better off just buying the real deal and ripping it yourself. I think I would be most disappointed when books lose popularity. I can see the point with textbooks (easier to carry around, more interactive, etc.) but things like coffee table books have a certain heft to them that you just can't replicate on an iPad/Kindle/nook.

Not for me.

I don't think books will ever lose popularity. They've been around for too long. For practical reasons, I wouldn't mind having textbooks and whatnot on tablets, but a good novel must be read from an actual book.

I sure hope not. There's something to be said about a hefty book with glossy pictures, and consideration to subtle things like layout and typography.
