the last mechanic i took it to used to work at the dealership i had shut down twice for blatant fraud. he says they build good cars but theres too much still wrong with mine to be considered a "good" one. whatever happened with it is beyond my control at this point. i still love BMWs to death but they are more of a headache than a pleasure to own. i originally got it with like 7,112 miles on the clock. had a hyundai tiburon before that i did all the performance mods on myself and they still honored it for service even though it wasnt in warranty. still wish i had that car

Selling doesn't sound like a loss to me.

ironically enough i bought the same model my dad has had for 30 years. seen it run pretty much flawlessly with basic maintenance. this BMW has pretty much bankrupted the extra money i set aside

Have you tried CarMax?

I would have all of your codes cleared and then take it to CarMax and dump it on them lolol.

miles: the car will not sell at $3000. the offers im getting are extremely lowball. this is chicago and they are all over the place here. the most i could do is part it out (which i dont have time for) or sell it to an auction.

or list it as a company car and sell it to charity as a tax write off

Just installed a Mann oil filter and did an oil change with some Total Energy 9000 5W-40 synthetic on my Astro van. Also recently changed spark plugs with some NGK platinum tips, Bosch spark plug wires, and Mann air and fuel filter.

All for about $150 and did the labor myself.

this is the FIRST time EVER its running without some kind of light. i know that a lot more of it is very close to inoperable (as the mechanic has shown me) but thats what might end up happening. or ill sell it to someone who doesnt know what theyre looking at and thinks its ok

Maybe you should change your strategy. Take out the most valuable parts of the car, sell those individually, and then sell the rest of the car as a project car for somebody who is looking for a cheap track car.

i could rip the engine out and sell it. the transmission is already questionable. the driveshaft is questionable. i cant sell any of the body panels because of the impact (even though it only impacts one half of the car). the only other thing worth value are the seats, interior trim, radio (which i already had replaced), and a few other things. dont have time or space for that

Technically neighbors still, but I'm happy with that because it means I didn't have to pay for the van, and insurance is cheaper the way it's setup now. In exchange I keep it good condition and give the occasional ride to the airport.
