VERY pretty. To me, the most beautiful BMW, period. Extra credit to your neighbour for having the Euro version with only one set of front sidemarkers.

Not the current one. It looks like a Highlander. They went towards the luxury route, and it just isn't working. That's Range Rover territory. If I just wanted a lifted luxury car, I'd still have the Ranger Rover. If I wanted a Land Crusher, I'd go for the previous versions. Also $80K is the base price.

The same principle applies to the Hyundai Equus, another that that you never see on the road. Why? Because at a 60k base price people are buying the 550i or E550.

Then, someone managed to do some good quality fiberglass boxed fender flares that shouldn't have been added to start, a really crappy ford metallic red/maroon color that was so bad parts of the trunk liner were red, and then crashed both the front end, and rear end the car.

Today's work:
-I took every loose item out of the cabin and trunk
-sorted through the items, they were mainly parts that were taken off like if repairs had been started
-took out all the seats
-tried to fold away the top, but the cover doesn't seem to want to latch all the way down
-dusted everything off with a stiff bristled brush and vacuumed, including all seats, carpets, cabin, dash, and trunk

Then called it quits and organized my work bench and tools.
Why aren't you working on getting your own car functional?

EDIT: Unless "OEM Poo storage" is the only level of function you're looking for in a car.

I could understand the Equus. Korea notwithstanding, Hyundai is creating something out of nothing with that car. The Land Cruiser already has pedigree. Toyota isn't a company that doesn't like to change the formula when it's working, and that's what they did.

Regardless of how nice the car may be (that is how I interpret your post, and I agree, the Equus is quite a nice car), there are tons of factors in the auto industry that determine prices for cars. Lexus and Hyundai really missed the mark in terms of prices for the LX and the Equus (for very different reasons, however that is not important for the point that I am trying to make).

Same reason why he still isn't Dr.-Ing. Miles Kodama.

What other luxury SUVs are there that seat 8+ people, have 350+hp, and full time 4-wheel drive? ie. you can take more than 5 people off road.

Toyota/Lexus: Landcruiser $77,995 / LX $80,930
BMW? No.
Mercedes-Benz: No.
Audi? No.
VW? No.
Porsche? No.
Honda/Acura? No.
Nissan/Infiniti? No.
Ford/Lincoln? No.
GM: Chevrolet Suburban 3/4 Ton $47,665
Land Rover: No, but close, LR4 that holds 7 people $51,000

Not much competition.

All of that is irrelevant.

Yes, I believe the Equus is a nice car, and I would buy one with my own money, but that's beside my point as well. My point was Toyota went wayward in terms of marketing the LX. Lexus is already a luxury brand, and the LX-Series is already an off-roader. But I digress. I think for carmakers, in order to be taken as seriously as their more established competitors, they have to price it accordingly. At least that's their reasoning...can't say I agree. They still undercut the competition by offering more standard equipment, but if you're looking at just sheer numbers, they're no longer that different.

And with the Equus, you say that now, but any carmaker who leaps in price range is always absurd at first. When BMW launched the E30 in...1984(?), they were already known for building luxury cars, though probably not so much in the US. That's why people were shocked that the price went up from $8,000 (from the E21) to $13,000-big money back then. In any case, $8K or $80K, that's a 40% increase, which is a lot.

uh, 8+ people in a landcruiser? What, can you buy them with a 3rd row bench seat option?

Range rover is in a different class, it's much smaller and can only seat 5 people. LR4 is and a 3/4 Ton Suburban are really the only challengers.

It's standard. And it's not a bench seat, at least not in the previous versions. it's a 50/50 split, and they fold sideways.

Hmm, 5 good seats or 8 bad ones? Also, 8-PLUS? Unless you're talking about Asian sizing standards, no SUV, luxury or otherwise, will fit more than eight people.
