For those running 17s in rear I've been informed to try a 11.5 wheel for 315/35/17 and it should alleviate most of the cornering issues

I dont see that you are FI. Stay with the Star Specs. I am loving my set now on my other car as much if not better than the RE-11's. The Dunlops are great street tires, perfectly suited for any HPDE as well. Track compound tires can be scary. I have not spun out on my track only BFG R-1's (yet). They barely make a sound when they are stressed. You have to really concentrate hard and pay attention to the smallest things when you are pressing competition compounds to their limits. They give almost no warning when they are going to loose grip. Use R compound in the street only if it's absolutely necessary.

Bumping this thread back to life.
I'm currently in the market for 18s.. Most likely Apex Arc-8. I'll be going with 18x9.5 et35 up front. My question for you tire/wheel gurus is what size in the rear? 18x10 et25 or 18x10.5 et27? I plan on running 255/35/18 and 285/35/18 front and back respectively. Or 265/295 depending on my tire choice and what's available. I would like to run Nitto NT05 but 255 is not available. So I would be left to run 265/285. Anyways, what are your guys recommendations for the rears? My fenders are cut and sealed so I will not have to do any fender mods. Should I go with 10.5" just in case I decide to go with 295 in the future? I know m5chas ran 295 with a 10" wheel. Feel free to chime in

You and I are pretty much in the same boat in terms of finalizing what tire size to run on 18 inch wheels. I also ended up with the same debate of 255/285 or 265/295 and after seeing 295's on a M3 it pretty much sealed the deal on which rear tire size to go with especially with Boost! I'm currently running an 18x11" wheel and awaiting my tires so I'll definitely have some feed back soon on that tire size.

This has alot of good info...http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=428513
I'm still undecided atm what I'm going to get but most likely ARC8's 18x9.5et35 up front and a 18x10.5et27 rear with NT05 265/35/18front and 285/35/18 rear ...295's have my interest.

Honestly I'm not sure of my offset i bought my wheels a while ago and been through a few sets but never gave these up. I'm getting them refinished so once I get them back I'll report back my offset. As a side note onlinetires.com has the nt05's cheaper than discounttire

Got me confused with someone else...I have been limited with my 380mm brembos...won't fit on the 18" APEX ARC8's and I dislike the EC-7's. So sooner or later I'm going to be getting new 355mm brakes and ARC8's.
