Oil burning / blue smoke while turning only?

Apologies for creating yet another oil burning thread... there are so many yet I haven't been able to find anything that is specific to my issue.

When I go around a left turn hard under acceleration, I see a big cloud of blue smoke behind me. I didn't notice the same thing happen when turning right, though I wasn't pushing it as hard.

2002 325Ci cabrio, M54B25

I imagine that my 173K engine is just worn, and that the rings are needing replacement, however...

I'm not seeing much oil consumption, I've had the car for 700 miles and the oil level on the dipstick hasn't budged.

On first startup, I get a little black smoke, but that's just the engine running overly rich when cold... probably a symptom of old sensors, old spark plugs, etc... its not blue.

Any ideas?
