power steering

hi to all you verts a bit of info if you dont mind . under bonnet on my 320cd 2005 e46 vert i have a cap saying ATF fluid only i presume this is power steering yes? does any one know what spacific oil i have to top up with? as i have heard the wrong oil will degrade the power steering rubbers. have looked in manual but cant find any info. any help is much appreciated

The power steering reservoir is a black canister in the front of the engine

The fluid that should be used is ATF type "Dexron III". Since Dexron III is no longer very available most people substitute Dexron IV which is supposed to be backwards compatible, although you may get some different opinions.
