To swap, or not swap...

My 325i M54B30 swapped car is PUKING trans fluid from the bell housing. I figure its either the front seal/bushing, front pump, or the torque converter. Supposedly the P.O. parked the car after replacing cooler lines and it started leaking, but this leak is nowhere near the lines. If it needs a TC, would I be stupid to spend he $300 to replace it over the $550 to swap? Btw, haven't gotten it on my rack yet.

when you say "swap", do you mean swap in another used automatic transmission (with a good torque convertor) or swap in a manual trans?

Manual trans. Sorry, should've been more clear

TC busbing has spun out.

Just swap in a used ZF 5hp19 transmission.

Depends entirely on how much money and time you have invested, and how much the car means to you. Personally if (when) my auto fails I know damn well I'm not gonna let that be the end.

I'm going to pull it tomorrow and see for sure. I'm hoping I can just throw in TC and pump seals. If not, 5-Spd swap...it'll be cheaper than a used ZF.

I got most of the parts you would need - ZF 5 speed, driveshaft that fits the 325 4 bolt diff flange, shifter assembly, flywheel in good shape, clutch with lots of life left in it.

I would let it go for cheap but shipping could be costly from Canada to TX. PM me if interested.
