Denver area SMG assistance

I am desperately hoping to get some help with an 04 SMG I bought 3 days ago. Yesterday I was picking up my wife and suddenly the SMG would not shift out of neutral, no reverse, no gears, nothing. Turned the car off, turned back on several times, nothing. Then we thought maybe it was low on fluid so we pushed it to a more level surface and started it and it went into gear. It got us home but the SMG warning light and Service Engine soon lights were on the entire way. This morning it worked perfectly, then this afternoon on the drive home the warning lights came on again, now, once again it won't shift into any gear. Starts up fine but won't shift out of neutral. Checked SMG fluid and it's full, disconnected battery and reconnected hoping to reset it and nothing. I can't figure it out. The only thing I've noticed is it's been very warm here the past couple days, I know there's a Hood sensor that may be the culprit. I've heard if it's defective it prevents the driver from shifting if the ECM thinks the hood is open. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's an 04' M3 SMG with 64.5K miles. Just serviced at 64K. Need some help pulling the codes.

Thats what ive been looking into. Or the Hood sensor. I hear the pump priming when i unlock the car, so thats a good sign. Just seems like there a lot of things it could be.

i feel for you man, all this SMG issues (falling into neutral / unable to shift / restarting car to get gear to engage) this is all so un-needed. my car is for sale now - i'm going as low as $16700 for someone to take it off our hands. 78K miles, white/blk, 2002 model.

I'm DONE with this SMG crap.
