What to use for cleaning headlights?

My headlights are a little hazy, on my old car I tried some crap from the auto store that apparently "makes your headlights look new!", but it only made it a little less hazy. Anyone use something that makes them look showroom new?

If the lights are pitted, they will have to be sanded. But if they are just dull, hazy and yellow, surface polishing will restore clarity. This debris can be removed with a chemical paint cleaner (Klasse AIO or Werkstat Prime Strong)

I have used the 3M kit and I have to say my lenses came out really really well, I did take my time and go very slow, my driver side lense took me 3 hrs to sand out all the pits and I ended up going through 2 3M kits to do both lights, Best thing I have used so far!

Not sure if your headlight lens covers are replaceable, but I got both mine for $80 at rmeuropean.com

there isn't really any yellow on my lens. but when i turn my lights on, you can tell the light is being blocked pretty badly, like it's just lighting up the grey dirty surface on the lens. here's a picture if it helps any; http://i47.tinypic.com/rjqttt.jpg

also, are those lens replacements you bought OEM? i'm looking to replace the amber corners with clear ones too.

I just recently polished my headlights as they were pitted and hazey. Believe it or not...I used Crest tooth paste and it worked great. Waaaayy cheaper than the polishing kits..and the front of my car is minty-fresh. I

Wifey thought I was nuts for trying toothpaste till she saw the results.

If any of the products your using are not working, just buy new clear lenses, They can be replaced and are not that expensive. I ordered some for my M3 but going to wait till next summer to install them.

Before even wasting your time, just buy new lenses. I had a sedan and did so- and it made a huge difference. I'd say the restoration kit get's you 75% of the way there, but the extra 25% is big once you see it.

On my coupe I had them re-done with a kit way different than what you pick up at Autozone, and it cost more than the new lenses for my sedan did.
