318i's use a buttload of fuel. They weren't designed for fuel efficiency, they were designed to be entry level and to cut under certain tax laws and the like in other countries. My 330i uses less fuel than a 318i.

I CBF going downstairs to the carpark at the moment, but here is one from when I first got the car (was reset at the same time the trip was reset so that's after 230kms with probably 180 / 50kms city driving and also included showing some friends what flat out S5 shifts felt like (it was my first day with the car so I didn't turn TC off).

Unfortunately 95% of my driving is done in peakhour traffic, primarily being to and from work, I'm usually around the 12.5/100km mark on average.

Have you had your thermostat replaced ever? how long does it take your coolant temp to reach dead center? if it's not that then I would look into o2 sensors and having a look at your maf sensor?

I had a 318i previously, found it to be pretty good on fuel better than my current 325ci. Used bp98 all the time.
Trip display on my 325ci says 12.1

At least 90% of my driving is in peak hour traffic. FE is around 13-14L/100km with some variation of 98RON.

When I only drove on weekends and after hours I could get into the 9's.

My 330i does 16L on daily work commute (5km only), lowest is 6.8L on level constant speed freeway. So don't think there are any issues. Just bad driving condition. (oh, RON 98 does not help even a slightest bit)

Should also be noted that my car hardly ever sits in traffic as it's only used 1 day during the week.

I have 275s so unless you are breaking traction everywhere or have seriously under-inflated tyres, I doubt the tyres have anything to do with it.

I miss my e36 318i. Used to get 650km to a tank while beating the 7 bells out of it. The e46? ermmm.. a bit worse than that! I won't say what it is as it might give a few of you a heart attack (but really it's attributed to a faulty thermostat).

my 318i is pretty fuel efficient, particularly the way I drive it

Damn in the 9s for a M3 is excellent.

01 330i sedan is currently at 12.6L/100km.

What are some ways to make the car more fuel efficient apart from driving sensibly?
