This could be super handy if you worked in security or industrial automation. Testing reed switches just became a lot more convenient.

What about your phone though? Many phones go straight into car dock mode when they are near a magnet (car docks have a magnet in them). That would be a bit of a hassle.

EDIT: Speaking of security, watch out for maglocks. They're more common than most people realize, I wouldn't want to get my hand stuck on one.
