Need to buy 2 new flat screens, suggestions?

house was struck by lightening and fried my TV's. I guess my first question is is there any way to fix them? not sure if there is a fuse, but they don't power up at all. Assuming they are shot, I need two TVs, one 42" and another 46 or 47". I think I would like smart TV, and browsing access, but don't care about 3D. I have an Apple TV box, which may be negated by smart tv, but I've read some TVs (LG) are not compatible w/ Apple TV? Are there any good quality sets, moderately priced, that have smart/internet but not 3d?

Check google for TV repair in your area and give them a call. They may need to replace a simple item. If you need new units, Ive always been a samsung LED fan. It has the SMART functions that you were referring to and I always felt that they have the best picture quality.

O and buy a good surge protector, there are a few guys talking about them in the other lighting strike thread.

Good Luck!

Will your homeowner's insurance cover it ?

Surge X is the best way to go for a surge protector. Whole house protection.

Debating on LED + Apple TV or
Smart LED

thoughts? pretty much the same price, I do have alot of apple gear (airport, airport express, Ipad, Iphone), but also hate having to use 3 remotes (tv, cable for volume, and Apple) when I access netfilx. My universals all got fried...

any input on Smart TV? Looks like Smart TV does not allow for use of Apple TV...are their TV's compatible with Apple TV, but also have smart tv/browser?
I purchased a Samsung 46" LED, love the picture, but the glare is awful, I sit there and see myself and a side light as I'm watching TV, so annoying...

I'd wait to here in from others, but could you potentially use a receiver as a middle-device to "trick" the TV? Essentially it's treating the TV like a monitor. Unless there is something more to it that I don't know.
