Quick question on wheels
Why is it a bad idea to run a set of staggered wheels on an xi?

It's not bad idea as long as the outer diameter of the front and rear tires are the same (within 1%), however, it will make the car understeer since you have wider tires outback

It kills the handling. There are no benefits to having a staggered setup besides the look. And taking performance away from a BMW to make it look cool, is never cool.

Maybe it's not such the bad idea. I've read several posts, some scribed with an authoritative style, stating; A Canadian spec., XI shipped with the optional staggered setup to Canadian dealers. The factory, staggered wheel and tire sizes were even quoted. Now, as a non-authority, I can't speak to whether it's myth or fact but it sounds reasonable.
Yeah, it a looks and a styling thing. Handling will be compromised. The "M"'s have enough scoot to where chubby treads on the back actually help them hook-up. Our XI pony corral could probably muster up some noise blasting out the gate but a squirrely rear-end? Naaaa. Least of your concerns.
