Re: G2 versus Folia Tec Which is better, which is easier
Not sure about G2, but I used a FoliaTec brush-on kit to paint calipers on my Maxima and it turned out great. I prefer brush-on versus spray.

Ok - Here it goes...
I have used both, and I have to give the edge to G2. I think it came out a bit glossier and with a thicker, more substancial appearance. They both come in 3 parts, 1 brake cleaner and a 2-part mixture that forms the actual paint. It takes 2 coats to cover well. The biggest difference I noticed was this: The foliatech stayed usable for hours while the G2 sets up pretty quickly. If you jack up one side of the car, clean both wheels, and paint them, you have to wait 15-20 minutes to do the second coat AND you are really supposed to wait an hour or 2 before putting the wheels back on and 24 hours to drive the car. The first time I used G2, the paint was as hard as a rock within 2 hours, even with the lid put back on. In short, the G2 is better but you have to work quicker! Put the car on jack stands or CAREFULLY put the wheels back on after the second coat. There is no reason not to put the wheels back on as long as you dont bang you newly painted caliper in the process. Good luck! |

I've got cool scars

they are the exact same product manufactured by the same company for both g2 and folia tec
g2 used to be the NA supplier of folia and then split off they have their products manufactured by the same companies that folia uses |

Jab -
If they are the same, the only possible difference other than production variances would be the texture or composition of the calipers. I used FoliaTech on my BMW and G2 on my wife's Toyota (both in Stratos Silver). I can tell you with ABSOLUTE certainty that they DO NOT look the same. Visual and physical feel are both different. Plus, as I said, we ended up buying 2 G2 kits because it was hard as a rock in < 2 hours. The Folia stayed liquid nearly all day. |
