Totaled?!?! Pics

So On my way to my sisters near witchata falls Texas I hit a deer.... Yup

So I'm doing the speed limit, and a deer comes running from the left side heading to right, I slam on my brakes and I think the tires screaming he turns and runs back to the left side of the road. I tried to avoid him, I turned left first then tried to go back right, didn't work, hit him good.... Lands right in the middle of the road, dead. So I pull over, have the girlfriend and my two kids in the car, get out, and look, first thing I see Is some smoke, and anti freeze pooring out. I'm on rt 283, 2 lane country road, so going into the trunk to get the flash light to get a better look I see another car coming.... YUP
BAM!!! Runs the deer over, looked like a Chevy Malibu or monte Carlo, he stops about 100 yards up with a flat, we meet up half way and make sure everyone is ok, and drag the deer out of the road before someone else shows up.

Everyone's ok, I am alittle bummed out about the car, but o well, see what happens, will keep updated! I have full coverage so see what geico says.

Here's some pics, what do you guys think, is it totaled? Or repairable?? 2000 328 ci with 73k miles

Glad it didnt make it through the window... glad ur all ok. Insurance will total it... the damage is over the limit on that car.. They will estimate on what the repairs would cost at a shop and at full price.. thats easy 4k right there. I would guess a total around 6k.. so sorry man.. Couldve been worse, but it looks like the beemer did its part for you.

Poor deer..
That's Texas.

From just the 3 photos, it looks repairable. How's it look under the hood?
Glad you're not hurt.

I feel your pain, my 325it having met its mortal end through contact with a minivan rather than Bambi.
But great that no one's hurt, especially in a full car.

Trivia question: What is the deadliest animal in the United States?
The natural thing is to start thinking about scary predatory animals like Grizzlies, Rattlesnakes, Mountain Lions, and Great White sharks.

But as STAX discovered, the animal responsible for the most human deaths in the US every year is the deer, because of its penchant for running back and forth in the road in front of BMWs and Malibus. Winner in a landslide, not even close. Many hundreds and maybe a few thousand auto accident deaths every year.

Second, is the lowly honeybee which does cause a few dozen deaths among people prone to anaphylactic shock.

Third is man's best friend. A handful of fatal dog attacks annually.

All the scary animals account for a fraction of a death every year, and jockey for position based on small sample variations.

So while it's bad that your car is trashed (and sadly, probably totaled) it's a huge consolation that the only thing Ms. Venison killed was a car.

Thanks everyone, ya I am 50/50 on wanting it totaled or repaired... I love the car, but dont mind doing a 330 upgrade either. I am not sure about the frame I couldn't pry the hood open and it was super dark, and with scorpions running around my feet I wasn't going to lay down to take a look underneath.

it all depends on the market value of the car. Gieco will be telling you if it is repairalbe or totalled. I dont think you will have a say in that decision. It looks pretty bad. Right off the bat you are going to need a new bumper, fender, hood, lights, radiator, etc, just the parts OEM will run a few thousand if not more. Then add in another thousand for paint and labor and I'm guessing close to $4-5K. GL with Gieco

FWIW, my newer 2005 iT had similar damage, and the insurance company totaled it with an initial value of $12,000. So you might be getting that 330 after all.
I did present a case to my insurance company (check out NOVA's must-read Ask an Insurance Adjuster thread) and got a few more dollars so don't accept their first offer. I'll note that a calm, pleasant, fact-based approach got good results. NOVA reminded me that the adjusters are more interested in getting the claim settled and off their desks than in squeezing you for every last dollar, so keep that in mind.

New hood, fender, headlight, inner fender and some plastic inside, looks like your radiator is ok so radiator support might be ok too.

Wouldnt call it a total.

Haha I know I had my kids in the car and meant to take a few snaps of him, he was about 40 yards in front of the car cause someone else ran him over after which pushed him further I will on my way home tomorrow if he's still out there.

Scorpions ya they were bad, at first I thought they were roaches or something, then after a good look in the light I noticed they were scorpions!

On the radiator, it's destroyed, fluids were all over the place, just did a fluid change

no unibody damage = repairable

a trip to junkyard should cover all the necessary body parts, hood, fender, bumper, headlight
