Unhappy 2000 323ci passenger seat help!

need some help with this if its possible i have a 2000 323ci vert the seat is now stuck fully back but it will move a few inches forward and back a few inches with the lil buttons under the headrest so the motor is working my question now is how do i get the seat forward fully to remove the rear bolts to get the seat out. also been searching a lot on this subject and found a few threads and info etc and cant find the answear.

1: i have a black box thing dangling down at the rear of the seat what does this do? (yellow arrow in pic)
2: how do i manualy move the seat forward if i cant get the motor to move the seat forward?
3: which is the common wire that breaks which causes the seat to stop moving forward and back? (red arrows)

i knicked the pic off google so this is not the underside of my seat

If you can move it a a few inches back and forth with that upper switch, I would look and see if you have anything in the track, (IE.. Ink pen, coin, etc). I can move mine back and forth fully with that switch. No way that i am aware of to manually move it. On my drivers side, It would only move backwards, so I had to unplug the fwd/rev motor and run wires to it to move it forward. no idea what that box (yellow arrow) is. fwd/rev motor is the one under that box in your picture.

Remember to disconnect your battery before you remove the seat. It will set the SRS light (airbag), which you will have to have reset.

I seem to recall, but cannot find the thread, someone recently removed that side panel, found dirty contacts and cleaned them. INPA might be able to tell you if the switches are working. Do the other switches, up/down & tilt, work?
