Is this BMW worth it?

Hi everyone! Im glad to be a future part of these forums. I am currently getting ready to purchase a 2000 BMW 323ci. I just would like the opinion of all you long time BMW drivers because i know you guys would steer me in the right direction. the link is below. What you should know that the ad doesnt say is that there is some minimal oxidation on the roof, the sunroof doesnt work, and as you can see i need to replace the driver seat, since it is significantlly torn. Other than that its fine. Please help me with your opinions and in any way you can! Thank you so much. He wont budge on 5k. Thanks again!

If you're considering an older BMW like this one, you really need to have a PPI done.

Regarding this car, I would pass immediately as it doesn't have xenon headlights or the Sport Package, two must-haves on these cars, IMO.

Could the guy have gone to any less effort to create this ad? Or at least clean all his crap out of the car before taking pictures?

That looks pretty good to me (minus the trashed interior).
I would just check for previous major accidents, subframe mounts condition and remove the CCFL lights (fire hazard).

No. When an owner is too lazy to even clean their car before selling it, I immediately walk away. Obvious indicator of how they treated the car.

Wow thanks everyone for the immediate and quick responses. I have limited money but love BMW, this is the best I could find with my 5k dollar budget. The mileage makes me happy and it does have a clean carfax. But i hear you all and appreciate it. The kbb value is listed at 6500 good condition, which its probably just in fair condition, so that books at 5500. Its tough because the car looks beautiful. Does this year have any major mechanical concerns I should look for?

You are most likely going to need some extra money if that cooling system hasn't been replaced. Also suspension components. Find out what has been done to it. All this should be mentioned in the PPI

I agree. I can only imagine what that thing looks like in person.

$5000 is not a bad price Only If:
The car is made in Mid-year 2000, not 1999. Early E46 have almost certain chance of subframe crack which is a $2000 repair.
Suspension has been done( stucts, shocks, control arms and bushings )
Does not burn oil
Has no check engine lights or any immediate serious problems

Things are you can DIY or upgraded at later time:
Xenon and Sport seats( $1000 total ), do it after the car runs well.
All brakes
Cooling system
Other small problems

Anyways for a $5000 car, do not expect too much equipment and have about $1000 for immediate maintaince to get it to top condition.

I wouldn't buy it just because of the interior. Personally.

First off, don't buy a 323. Second, pass on this car, it is way over priced, and he lied like a b!tch in the ad. I would have asked for gas money for making me drive to see it. Save a bit more, and you can get a 325, or better, a 330. Then, you will have fewer regrets.

But seriously wtf does one do to make such a tear in the seat.

It's more of a money pit then a real bargain.

$5000 budget? You should be looking at E36's.

That car looks pretty rough. The interior is completely trashed, and it looks like he's been off-roading in it. It looks priced accordingly to me. $5000 for an E46, even a 323, isn't overpriced where I come from.
