128i vs. E46 330i

With each passing day nice E46's get harder to find. Eventually we'll all need new cars. In my opinion I think the spiritual successor to the 330i is the 128i, since they share many similarities.

Does anyone have a technical stat comparison of these two cars? I'm looking for side by side comparison of items like brake diameters, gear ratio's, and differences in engine and suspension design. I'm sure something like this exists out there but haven't been able to find it with a Google / forum search...

I dont have the technical specs between both but I have both sitting in my garage. The 330i belongs to me while the 128i belongs to my gf. I can give you my view on both of the cars because I drive both on a daily bases. Both engines are 3 liter inline 6 motors. Even though my 330i is a manual and her 128i is a automatic. Her 128i pulled on me by a full car length. With all things consider the 128i is a lighter car as well. Although the 128i is too small of a car for me and being a coupe only. I wanted a sedan for practical reasons.

Almost as fast

To the OP, 128i has 11.8-inch discs front and back, compared to 12.8-inch front and 12.6-inch rears on a 330i. Final drive ratio is I think 2.73:1 on the 128 compared to 2.93/3.07 on the manual E46 330i. Personally, I'd go with the 135i just to get its monster brakes.

You can't find tech specs for these 2 cars in google? I find that just a little hard to believe.

Why wouldn't you just get the turbo'd 135i?

Do you not like power?

in terms of performance, fuel economy, warranty, reliability 128 all the way!! I've had 128i Msport and loved it, I did keep my e46 coupe as I find it more refined and it's much more spacious so practical,

Personally if I was going for a 1 series, 135 all the way.

Would take a ZHP over it anyday though.
