Cool Forget HP! Zero to 60 is a better measure of how great our cars are!

http://www.zeroto60times.com/BMW-Bim...mph-Times.html

Quote:
1999 BMW 328i 0-60 mph 6.8 Quarter mile 15.0

2001 BMW 330i 0-60 mph 6.0 Quarter mile14.8

2001 BMW M3 Convertible 0-60 mph 5.3

2001 BMW M3 Coupe 0-60 mph 4.6 Quarter mile 13.2

2002 BMW M3 0-60 mph 4.6 Quarter mile 13.2

2002 BMW M3 Convertible 0-60 mph 5.0 Quarter mile 13.5

2004 BMW M3 Competition Package 0-60 mph 4.6 Quarter mile 13.0

The E46 330i gets a good 6.0 seconds from 0 to 60 time! This is pretty damn good when compared to what other car makers put out today. That includes even the newer turbo'd 3 and 5 series out today.

The 550i on that scale is not that much faster than our 330i.

Quote:

2008 BMW 528i 0-60 mph 6.8 Quarter Mile 15.1

2008 BMW 550i 0-60 mph 5.1 Quarter mile 13.5

2009 BMW 535i 0-60 mph 5.6

The E46 M3 is still a freaking beast when it comes to the 0-60 ratings!

I'd still say .9 seconds is a fairly good amount. People pay loads of money to shave off even .4 seconds.

2012 Subaru WRX

0-60 in 5.3 seconds. 1/4 mile in 14.0 seconds.

Price? Starts around $26k brand new.

Sounds like what was "top of the line" in 2004 is pretty slow now. I'm not complaining (auto 328 ringing in here)...but face it. BMW's have never been "drag racers". Furthermore, my car has it's ass handed to itself by Hyundai's all the time. The "car world" has changed quite a bit since the e46 platform was introduced as far as engines and fuel efficiency are concerned.

I STILL LOVE MY E46 THOUGH!!! I love the handling, the lines, the interior (driver focused). I just wish I had more than 193hp from the factory...which is even less now considering it's age.

Agree that BMW's are not drag racers, and with everything you posted. But FYI, have you seen what you need to do to a WRX to achieve that 0-60 time? These are AWD turbo cars, you need to do horrific things to the transmission for it to get up and go that fast. It'll achieve those performance figures...but the number of times you can do that without shredding gears is limited.

That Subura was built for that....

I would never try to race my car 0-60 against a Sube WRX! That would like Paul Rubens pulling down his pants to impress Mr. Marcus. It's just not gonna happen.

Have you been in a Subaru? All plastic and cheap cloth. Not to mention that they're loud. They're fast and handle well, but that's all they have going for them. If that's all you care about, a WRX or STI is for you.

We get the best of both worlds with only some performance compromise for a 6-12 yr. vehicle. Newer BMWs have a significantly lower compromise (much more performance).

Me, personally, I'm very happy with my 235 HP and luxury

I can say with confidence that my 325xiT can at LEAST beat a honda civic. I have exhaust cutouts and headers, and when the cutouts are open I attract rice like you wouldnt believe...

Compare your 0-60 times against your older 0-60 times and the world instantly becomes a better place.

So long as the car makes you smile like a toddler with a rattle, who cares how easily you can get a ticket for exhibition of speed?

Not bragging but more impressed.

Actuallly I am shopping for a 2008 5 series and the only one I can find is a sweet 528i loaded with everything I want in the color combo I like.

Don't know much about the E60s so I was anoraking online to see how much slower the 528i is than my 330i and came across those 0-60 times and I was impressed.

I always figured the e46 330i would be like 7.9 seconds from 0 - 60 so imagine my surprise when I saw 6.0!

For their age, the E46 comports itself well for sure. I just learn the hard way about comparing things to other people's things. It took about 8 months of overclocking competitions and about $6K in PC parts to learn that.

I know others would disagree but the E60 has always pleased me, minus the tail lights.

It may not be as fast in a straight line, but handling is fu kk ing rock solid solid, you can drive like a maniac in the curves.

If that's the case then 323 can hit 60 mph under 7 sec.

Might not be 6.3 sec like this guy but definitely under 7.
