OP, as I said with the trunk loom...the wires will look fine. You have to try to break them. You can find the colors for the trunk wires in wds and yank them...though it could be a ground that's beginning to go.
Maybe it's an artifact from a bad battery, but it sounded so much like what I'd experienced a few times...just put it out there.

Thanks Dmax. I'll look into the trunk wiring harder after I get this issue squared away.
Update: I picked up a new battery today and installed it. I grabbed an Interstate MTP94. My brother was able to get it for me at cost, which was the cheaper than the AutoZone battery. I have the MTP91 in my E36, so I figured i'd stay with familiar territory. Anyways. It measured 12.55V out of the box. The xenon is still out. I didn't have time today to mess with that, so i'll swap HID capsules and ballasts tomorrow and see if I can rectify that issue. I'm keeping my old battery in case i'm not out of the woods with this. Don't want to damage a new one, so i'll keep my eye on the voltages for a few days to see if anything is depleting it. Any suggestions on sourcing a ballast?

Ready to have a laugh?
Looks like I found the issue with the xenon. Coincidence? Or consequence? Odd series of events. The battery and charging system has been fine. Headlights are fine now with new HID capsules.

Also, can one of the mods explain why a 2 page discussion about the battery and charging system was moved to the lighting forum? I understand I mentioned a problem with the xenons. But none of the relevant information and troubleshooting info in this thread has anything to do with lighting.
This doesn't belong in the general forum, where it was originally posted?

Well, I have an update. Not like anyone interested in this information will ever find it...as the mods towed a thread related to the charging system into the lighting forum.
Anyways, it's been roughly a month and I haven't had a single issue. It has been raining quite frequently and reproducing the symptoms that the issues occurred under. No hiccups. Thanks again for all the help troubleshooting this. It appears that it was as simple as the battery.
