EML light

I'm just curious if this light is supposed to come on when you turn the key like the check engine light does, and then go off after starting. I haven't noticed that light before and when I started searching it kind of worried me....if it is just a normal start up light then I might be ok, if it isn't then something could be wrong.....thanks

YES, it's part of the startup test.

Ok, thanks....I thought I saw something flash as I was pulling into the bank today but wasn't sure, and then when I started car I saw it and got worried because I hadn't noticed it before....makes me feel better....at least until it comes on again, lol

As long as it goes out within the first 20 seconds after startup, all usually is fine.

Remember, after inital power up, all the modules have to self-test first, then report to the DCM.

Just to be sure, so it is normal for this light to come on before start up, as long as it goes away once you actually fire the engine up?

I've driven my car daily for the better part of a decade; just noticed the EML illuminate briefly during start up and never noticed it before. Came here for an explanation. Was not disappointed.
