LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Democratic state legislator from east Arkansas, his father and two campaign workers pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to commit election fraud after federal prosecutors said the lawmaker's campaign bribed absentee voters and destroyed ballots in a special election last year.

Prosecutors said Democratic Rep. Hudson Hallum of Marion, Kent Hallum, Phillip Wayne Carter and Sam Malone acknowledged that they participated in a conspiracy to bribe voters to influence absentee votes in the Arkansas District 54 primary, runoff and general elections in 2011. The four were released pending a sentencing hearing.

The Miami Herald won a Pulitzer Prize deconstructing the 1997 Miami election after Joe Carollo won a majority at the polls but lost to Xavier Suarez with his very suspicious 2-to-1 advantage in absentee votes. That ‘s how it’s really done. How elections are pilfered. With absentee ballots.

The Herald discovered voters whose absentee ballots had been forged, voters who said their absentee ballots were filled out by other people, voters who were paid $10 for their absentee ballots. Herald reporters turned up dead absentee voters and Miami absentee voters who didn’t live in Miami. Some 45 political operatives were arrested, a city commissioner was carted off to jail and Carollo was declared the lawful winner. A Miami-Dade grand jury, in a monument to understatement, declared, “We find that absentee-ballot fraud clearly played an important part in the recent city of Miami elections.”

An ID will prevent these problems.

I've repeatedly tried to get it through your thick heads that absentee ballot fraud is far more prevalent than in person voter fraud. IDs will not have an effect on this.

I do recall something in the constitution about the right to own a gun that SHALL not be infringed. If requiring an ID to vote is an undue burden, then it must be for gun ownership as well.

I agree. Nothing irks me more than having to explain to Homeland Security why it's my 2nd Amendment right to own an M1 Abram.

What about cashing a check, entering a federal building, picking up your child at school, etc.?

You don't have to vote or attend a convention.

Let's not forget about Minnesota

1,099 ineligible felons voted, and were counted. Franken won by 312 votes. Franken was the filibuster proof majority for Obamacare until Scott Brown won the vacant murderers seat in Mass.

Of those 1,099 there have already been 177 convictions of voter fraud. The law in Minnesota requires the government to prove that:

a. Voter was ineligble to vote
b. Voter knew he/she was ineligble to vote
c. Voter cast a ballot

Another 66 are awaiting trial, by the way
