Not sure if your car is modded, but if not, he wasn't trying. Stock vs. stock, E90/92 is faster everywhere. No contest.

You're full of it, especially owning a Cabrio.

There have been numerous 330 owners on this site who have claimed to outrun E46 M3s over the years. You sound just like them. It didn't happen the way you saw it, or you don't understand the circumstances during such a race (gear selection, speed, timing, traction, etc).

Man , i've been racing cars for years. I know when someone is trying or when theyre just playing. I was just as surprised. But like u all know...its only 81hp more. V8 motor is heavier and being a sedan on top is too. Racing is all about power/weight ratio. It doesnt matter how much hp u have if your ride weights like a tank. The m6 is heavy too but it throws out 505hp, if u have the "power" button pushed, the motor will help make up that diffetence. I think the m6 is lighter than a sedan e90

Oh and not to keep going on, lol, but i laugh at the thought of a 330 out running an m3 haha haha! u know the m3 put out over 100hp/liter. More than most. Its not like im conparing my car to an m5 or 6.

The engine weighs 15 kg (33 lb) less than the outgoing six-cylinder for a total weight of 202 kg (450 lb)

e90 sedan weight is about 3,726 lb
e46 m3 droptop is about 3649 .. normally droptops are heavier then the their coupe/sedan counterparts because of the extra bracing they receive from losing the rigidity of the top being cut off

to me thats not much of a difference. being the weight of the driver and what ever else is being carried at the time.
