Hardwire 9500ix
Easiest way to hardwire my radar? I have the direct wire for my 9500ix but when I removed the sunroof panel cover, I noticed the universal garage door opener connector was cut off by the last owner of the car. I still wired it to the green wire with blue stripe hoping it still had 12v of power going to is. But no luck and now I'm wondering where the next easy set up would be? DIY vids or procedures?

When I first hardwired my V1 I didn't use the right cable up there. Check more to the right side and see if it's tucked in there.

The connector has 3 wires right? When I looked in there, I just saw three wires that were cut at the ends and bundled together without a connector. Is there more than one in the panel? Which wire did you hook it up to initially?

If the owner cut the wires maybe he also took out a fuse. Check those too.

This should show you where to get power from. Hope it helps. Edit:saw you attempted to connect to the green wire already. Have you checked it to a known good ground with a volt meter? sent from my ATARI sc1224

WDE46 - That's a good point. Do you know which fuse it would be?
HiHoBrian - No I haven't. I know it's electrical I'm working on and should probably have a volt meter before doing anything with wires.

Your RD cost in the $400-$500 range. It's worth at least $20 to make sure you're wiring it right, plus you'll be able to determine if you have good ground which will help protect your RD. Escorts seem to be overly sensitive to voltage fluctuations IMO.

I think he meant at the very least get a $20 volt meter. Or just borrow someone's.

Sorry, I read that just as I woke up. Anyone know how much to have it professionally installed?

I run my own car audio/video and security shop and typically I charge $50-$75 depending on the type of vehicle. Some newer vehicles make it very difficult to locate a switched 12v source, so those I charge upwards of $100. This is all for hardwiring of course.

THANKS. I finally took a peek at the fuse box and there it was, a missing fuse under what was labeled as garage door opener. Placed a 5amp fuse, used a multimeter to check voltage, hardwired my radar! I appreciate everyone's input!
