Headlamp confusion

Hi,

I have a 2004 330 ci E46. I am a bit confused about the headlamps. I had a lot of trouble with ballast, bulbs etc., but finally got everything working. When I turn on the headlamps, the xenon bulbs light, and when I push the hi bream switch forward, they get "brighter" like a high beam. But the only time the other lamp (located next to the xenon) illuminates is when I pull the switch back. Is this correct? Since this is only used to "flash" the lights, this seems like a waste.

My car has been programmed to be like the standard BMWs with xenon. halogen high beam with xenon low beam. I haven't tried pushing it in though, will give it a go tomorrow morning

this Is normal, it's called Bixenon.. If you have fog lights, you'll also notice that they turn off when high beams.

as CSL323 pointed out, the car can be coded to have both High beams at the same time.

Thanks for the replies. Is the "coding" something I can perform? Or I need the dealer to do it?

You can do it, just find someone with P.A SOFT and the designated connector (that's what I used) and it gives you loads of things you can make your car do
