Aside from new headlight lenses, a new shift knob, maybe a new steering wheel, and repainting the bumper/door trims, its not in bad shape

I don't get this thread.. ???

How is it beat up? It a USED car not a brand new one.... :/ sure it will need SOME work, as does any USED CAR. As long as the drivetrain is in decent shape everything else can be fixed.

Sure the drivers seat and shift knob will be worn out LOL, an that is what the bumpers are there for... To protect the car :O

LOL, You guys need to get out there into the market. This is clean compared to a lot of the cars I test drove. People are savages.

The pics are so blown out, it's hard to see the condition of the paint. Interior looks like it has its fair share of scuffs and stuff. But lot of times a magic eraser followed by a good interior product does wonders for that sort of thing.

Mine was dirty when I got it. I mean *dirty*. But it cleaned up pretty well. I bought it in May and i'm still in the process of bringing it up to speed aesthetically (still have to dye the rear deck and replace faded reverse lights and pitted headlight lenses). It's a lot of work. If not for the color, I would've kept looking for a cleaner one.

A car like this will take a lot of TLC if you want it to be real nice. But it's far from trashed compared to many others out there. Believe me.

I'm glad you can tell by the high quality pictures in the CL add. I myself, couldn't tell if the car has been repainted...guess I don't have a trained eye like yourself, unless you know the history of this car...

All kidding aside, I wouldn't base that statement by just looking at these pictures....

This is an easy fix up.

-Paint correction + Polish + Wax
-Front bumper cover respray + lower grille respray to fix faded black
-Clean interior (leatherique + Coby wheel rewrap/shift boot)
-Headlight lenses
-New ZHP Knob
-New roundels
-Restore trim (Magic eraser?)

After that, everything will definitely be up to par. Might even stand to make a few bucks on it if you're into that..

I was asking.

However, I added a question mark to my original post to avoid confusion.

The reason I'm asking is that I would rather buy a car with all of its imperfections visible. Nothing scares me more than a fresh spray.

Oh believe me I've driven some pretty gnarly BMWs before... including a 200,000 mile downright scary E36 M3 that wanted to spin out every time i gave it a little gas (every bushing completely ripped out/blown). Maybe someone here will check it out and report back. would be interesting to see how it is.

Don't trust the option list on that car. It says "wood grained interior trim". They just got it off a list. The ad does say "sport package" so they probably don't know it's a ZHP.

I feel sorry for you guys that baby the s*** out of your cars... it's a machine, use it as such. It's not in perfect shape... so what? It's got over 100k miles on it and it's 9 years old, I don't think that qualifies it for "Super beat". Doesn't look that much worse than mine did when I bought it, but mine came with a crap load of maintenance records.

Mango, that's not super beat, that looks more like an above-the-average E46. Unfortunately there are lots of neglected E46s out there and soon this will be the norm.

Yeah it's not that bad at all. Just count yourselves lucky you have ZHP's over there!

You're judging these cars from the top 1% of the cars left out there. Most people would consider that to be a very neat car, surprisingly...
