People look at my car and regularly ask me "Is that a new BMW?" I think the E46 hasn't aged much in the eyes of most people.

Either that or I just keep my car looking gooooood

its all about how clean you keep your car. My 330Ci(01) and my now ZHP(03) people are suprised to find out that they are as old as they are.

Eh the car is not perfect but if you can walk away for under 10k then it is win in my book. Few things to cleanup plus cooling system and you have a great car. I honeslty think people are being to harsh on the car. If you want a perfect one go pay 13-15k.

Not sure if that is sarcasm or if that the silver trim is really that sought after? If it is I guess I got lucky cause mine has it. I think its does look better due to the contrast with the black interier(maybe that is why?). I would have thought people would have wanted the black cubed trim more than silver though.

Seriously? 8 year old ZHP with average miles, if it has service records and no major issues I don't see what the problem is. No reason to think it is "super beat" if you haven't driven it yet or know the PO.

Get off your pedestals. If this is a "Project" car then 90% of E46's around that age should be re-titled as Salvaged...

Check under the car, check under the hood, if everything seems fine, you are good to go.

That had me rollin for a few minutes

I bought my 05 ZHP less than a year ago with seriously 39k on the clock. I think I payed a bit much for at 20k but prices in Hawaii are ridiculous. I've had two issues since purchasing it. The fuel pump went bad which I replaced my myself with a free replacement pump from the dealer. About a month ago I had a leak in my A/C system by the evaporator core which cost about 2k to fix. Other than that I've had no issues with it other than some rock chips on the front bumper and hood that'll be getting repainted once I get back from Afghanistan. I'd buy the car man

No not sarcasm haha. A lot of people really like it for some reason. I personally don't, but silver cube seems to be harder to find than black cube. Some people like the contrast, as you said. I like it matching

Though it does get ****ing hot as all getout in the summer, holy ****. Don't dare touch a black cube trim door handle in the middle of summer. Burn city.

I wouldn't quite call them "beaters" yet. To me a beater is a car you bought for less than $3000 and really don't give a crap about. I've had a couple "beater" BMW's, both bought for $1500 and it was kinda nice not having to worry about people keying my car, or washing it every other week etc.

I do agree with you but realistically, for how much you can get an e46 now, they are somewhat becoming beaters, just because someone spend a ton of extra money on maintenance, doesn't mean its worth double the actual value. None the less its always better to buy a car with records

^Yea, but I think of a beater as a car that I feel fine paying the minimum amount of liability insurance on and not really being to concerned about what happens to it. With my E46 I have full coverage and I'm very concerned about it in heavy rain storms, tight parking spaces, etc.

The trick is to have a beater that looks reasonably good, cheap to buy, and not something to lose hair over.
That's where 323 comes in.

I think it's in reasonable condition for the price. If you do all the usual maintenance items immediately, I bet it'd be quite nice to drive.

I'd offer 7k. Put 3k into it and drive it. Then let the M sit in the garage for weekends.
