Because the manufacturers of third party accessories were seeing a decline in sales, this was one of the reasons to change the connector. If you buy a car charger for your iPhone 2, why would you need to buy a new one for any subsequent iDevices?

Also see "planned obsolescence"

Confirmed. You do keep your unlimited plan, but it get's throttled after 3GB of usage.

FWIW, I don't own a CNC machine, but my company has several. I've designed many components to be made on them and I appreciate the process. I just don't think it's a requirement on a phone.

I don't see it as a pinnacle of refinement. I see it as a logical evolutionary step, but one that is quite small, considering the speed at which the rest of the market is evolving.
It seems pretty clear that it's an evolution off the 4 chassis, which was extremely robust, and given the lighter weight, it should have an even more solid feel and resilience to impact damage. since it's 20% lighter that's that much less impulse, and 25% less impact energy, pretty notable I think.

Completely agree.

The same can be found happening in the dildo industry.
Where do you think the field of dildology will be headed next? One can only imagine. I speculate a fleshlight IN A DILDO, acting as a penis multiplier. It'll probably be very popular among the Bro-mmunity.

Design and build quality are where Apple dominates IMO. I've yet to hold a phone that feels as solid and that's something I can appreciate. Their image quality is (was? haven't seen what the newest phones can do) above and beyond the competition as well.

edit: Are they using the same camera as on the 4/S?
I didn't think about that either... Well If AT&T doesn't honor mine, I've been looking forward to switching it up to Verizon, now that the iPhone is a genuine world phone.

I don't think the CDMA version is really a world phone.

I honestly don't know how anyone can use iOS without jailbreaking it. Then again, I don't know how people use Macs either, so take that for what it's worth.

Well, no sh1t! lol. It's not that I don't see the reasoning behind it. Part of the Apple's appeal was the interchangeable nature of their chargers/docks/etc. I think they'll alienate more users than they'd attract in doing so.

They won't because all of the new devices have the same dock now, other than the new iPad that is but I'm sure that will change with the next gen. The 30 pin dock port is old and oversized. I'm glad to see it go.

Do it.

At the most, it will take 5 minutes for you to jailbreak it.
