Have you ever actually really gotten crazy with cydia? Because if you havent, you can literally change everything. Lockscreen info, quick texting, better notifications, and completely different UI. Don't knock it man. It's like having the best of both worlds. The quality hardware of a iPhone but the ability to run whatever you want on it, however you want. And I don't just mean installing a few poorly designed free themes and free paid apps from the app store.
I've always found Cydia to be a mess. Jailbreaking also always "broke" my phone. It was never the same again: bugs, lags, misc problems. Happened with both my 3GS and my GF's 4, along with numerous friends reporting the same on their phones.

Springboard/Winterboard was also a mess. Dunno if they still use that though.

There is only one thing i would jailbreak for, and that is the GVsms extension. Dunno why apple/google don't offer a stock solution.

Yes, I've had Cydia installed on every one of my iPhones for years. Yes, the tweaks/themes etc are cool. But it is still running iOS despite the cosmetic changes and minor tweaks. I was just pointing out the stupidity in Green_Shine's initial statement.

It would be like saying you hate BMW but like the M3...

Cool for one day, then just annoying.

On the one hand, it would be easy to find in the dark at night; on the other, it would be annoying every night.

I had the same issue (the home button stopped working properly with jailbreak).

Weird feature.. my phone isn't ALWAYS making noise when I get text messages. The phone always rings, email alert makes noise.. but the text message seems to not always do so. Can't figure out why. Perhaps it has to do with imessage?

50 Minutes usage, 3 hours standby still 100% lol.

Can anyone answer the question about how I can fix the Error 3194 on my jailbroken 4s so I can reset it/resell it?

Check to see if Bluetooth is on and if you have a lot of apps running in the background

The first day I got it I let it run all the way down and turn off itself. Then I charged it all night.
-All the notifications I don't need are off.
-Bluetooth off,
-WiFi most of the day,
-Brightness 1/4 of the way (auto-brightness off),
-LTE off (since I don't have it in my area),
-iCloud back-up off,
-No iTunes sync
-Location Service only for things I need.

News this morning, Tim cook owns up and apologizes.

Quote:
In a rare and surprising move, Apple has apologized for the shortcoming of its new Maps app through a letter posted online by Chief Executive Tim Cook.

"At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers," Cook said in the letter. "With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment.

"We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better."

"While we're improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app," Cook said

Apps may be open in the background, but they are not running.
From what I remember, iOS does not have true multitasking. It simply task switches.
Has that changed?

I don't own an iPhone. I'm considering one, so pardon the noob question...
Does the GPS work with other maps via browser?
His letter tells people to use Google maps at their website. Will I see a moving blue dot (my location) in that website?

Mine is eating battery too. There is definitely something wrong. For the last 2 days it was decent but today it blows.

I think this may actually have a lot to do with the smoothness iOS.

I noticed this morning when i had about a dozen tabs open in Chrome that my phone was running noticeably slower. Once i went in and closed most of them, it seemed to speed back up again. Maybe it was just a placebo effect or something (or being on slow school wifi), but not having multiple, memory hogging apps running at the same time is probably a good thing. The fact that i'm running a non-stable "nightly" release of a custom OS probably contributes some. Too much openness and customization has its downsides.
