Yep, we all know the rankings. It'll be great when CDMA finally dies- maybe I'll switch to Verizon. Until then, I'll stay on the same page with as rest of the world (GSM), and stick with AT&T. I've never had an issue with them.

riiiiight. BTW, when's the last time you were out of the country...and guess what, my phone works on international GSM networks...too....and I get the best network here at home.


....back on topic, how Apple was unable/unwilling to do what Motorola, Samsung, LG, Nokia, HTC, etc were able to do: Provide simultaneous Voice and LTE Data on any carrier (the iPhone drops to 3G Data on AT&T during voice calls), or provide simultaneous Voice & Data on the largest carrier in the United States.

I had simultaneous voice and 4G data in 2010, just saying.

i hope cdma doesnt completely die. i usually have my phone on CDMA 1xRTT when i dont need data running. helps battery life a ton

Broadcom and qualcomm both have announced new modem chips that are significantly more power efficient than what's out now (50%). They should be showing up in new phones around the time Verizon starts rolling out voice service over LTE.

I had Verizon for 10 years before the iPhone 4 came out. I've been on AT&T since and I have no complaints. My phone's connection speed demolishes anyone else's. I haven't seen anyone come close to this yet:



I have Verizon on my iPad and the LTE is significantly slower and has been increasingly unreliable over the past few months.

Back on what topic? Bashing the phone you say that you want to try? I don't get that. And do you mean 4G or LTE? Because "4G" is actually HSPA+ aka 3G+, which the iPhone 5 does while on the phone.

I got 62Mbps down on AT&T.

^I'm not trying to 'bash' the phone, I'm simply stating fact. I do not defend products, whether I own them or not. A lot of Apple users tend to think the voice/data is a Verizon issue, and its not.

Also, LTE is 4G. HSPA+ is 3G. Whatever logo pops up on the phone doesn't change that.

The first iPhone that has (Half assed) 4G technology is the iPhone 5, anything else is purely a marketing gimmick.

question before I activate my 5 to the Verizon users. my 4 is under the 60 day warranty from apple for doing an out of warranty swap. can I switch my service from my 5 to my 4 before I go into the store to get an actual working phone? the 4 they gave me gets very poor signal when I should have full signal. I get maybe 3 bars max anywhere I go lately. I need a working phone as it is part of my business.

Edit: i said screw it an activated it. So happy.

I'm not sure if this has been asked but when is e46f going to update so my whole screen is being used instead of these annoying black lines on the top and bottom of my screen.

Yeah. BimmerApp needs to be optimized for the iphone 5. Didnt notice until now lol

Anybody else experience the sleep/wake button issue? Mine went out and I just got it replaced yesterday and the guy at the apple store says its been happening with a lot of phones including his. Sounds to me like apple should issue a full recall which they won't.

pretty content on how my iphone looks now without changing the icons.

Recalls are expensive.
They only issue when required by law (there's safety involved) or they sense a serious litigation in the horizon.
That said, yes. Took mine in and the "genius" issued a new phone immediately without even checking. And to think that I postponed bringing it in until I could reproduce on demand...
My other phone had the speaker fail (could only do conference call) and they insisted in fixing it, not issuing a new phone. Had to wait for hours.

FYI Verizon iPhone 5 comes factory unlocked. Pop in any sim and your gtg

It seems like the iPhone5 had much less strict quality control. This will probably be my last iPhone because of all of this.
