Oh what a feeling.

I was in Sydney last week and I drove a rental, a late model Subaru Outback. Nice car, smooth, reliable etc, but God, it was boring.

I got home and back into my little old E46 and what a joy to drive again. The difference in drivability and driving pleasure, even in my little 320i, was enormous.

After 18 months of BMW ownership getting into my car each day is still usually the high point of my day. Sad, right?

A few days ago I changed the plugs, coils, fuel filter and gasket and changed the oil. It drives even better than usual.

Thank god I drive a BMW.

I had the same feeling when I was in Ululu driving a corolla, then head out of the long term park in my 330...

Almost every other normal car I've driven, feels super light on the steering wheel.

Spare a thought for me! After the prang I had a while back, I resorted to using the work ute to get around in for the 3 weeks or so. A 1989 Toyota Hilux no less, on the books it was worth only about $500, no powersteering, no radio, a fraction of the clutch remaining, sychros gone, cheap Chinese tyres which were absolutely lethal in the wet.

Admittedly while it was good fun for a change having a car that's not yours, it was a pleasure getting back in the Bimmer. Nicely weighted, grip for days, well made and went like stink compared to the ute!
