Why shouldn't Bob be allowed to get as fat as he like, smoke as much as he'd please, and do as little exercise as he can? So long as he is required to deal with the ramifications (and pay for them), I"m all for it.

FWIW, those same institutions that are suposed to be helping (SS for example) are all going belly up because they are unsustainable and politicians keep dipping their hands into those "savings accounts" to pay for other schemes aimed at buying them votes.

You know, in a simplistic view, I'm also all for people being responsible of their own actions, i.e. you get fat, you pay for it. A libertarian society, if you will. The problem is, it will cause some pretty crazy social unrest from those who feel that they are entitled to healthcare, welfare, etc because it's true; many have dug pits for themselves, or were born into "pits", so them and their families cannot survive without those social niceties.

So you better bet if all healthcare systems decided that they will only be treating those who prove that they can pay (through insurance or sufficient personal assets), that there will be mobs of people doing crazy sh!t to try to get treated and that I will be carrying a gun on my person around the hospital and pretty much anywhere I go.

Driving is not a right. Buying a legal product in any quantity is. Furthermore, driving recklessly is a danger to others. Eating recklessly is not.

Then we can agree to disagree. If you are referring to the freedom of movement act it does not allow a person to drive. Driving is a shall issue privilege. Anyone over the age of whatever can get a license and can lose it if they misbehave. This cannot be with a right. A right cannot be taken away.

Watched the video. It seemed it is a collection of laws strung together to make it look like it is a right when in reality it isn't.

There is no such thing as human rights so stop with the non sense. It is my human right to eat. It doesn't say I have to buy my food but I can't just randomly go around hunting my food can I? It is my human right to eat fish but I am not allowed to without a fishing license.

JJ, show me an law limiting an individuals right to purchase a good in any quantity....a legal and an uncontrolled good.
