drivers door lock broken!

ok, so i fixed my top by putting in a used motor/ reg. on the right rear! i have a problem with the drivers door lock and the glove box. the drivers door lock doesn't work with the key. it doesn't lock or unlock. the remote did work and would lock and unlock the doors but i lost the key and now i can't lock the car. i bought a new key from bmw but in order to program new key you need to be able to lock and unlock door with key. it almost seems like something fell off! i will take it apart tomorrow and see if anything obvious is happening. i haven't read of this exact problem(i've looked!). i've read of people having problems with the actuators and the gm5(not sure what this is). it really just seems like something fell off. any ideas?

OK, where to start.

1. You drivers door lock problem, you need to order this - http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E46-DOOR...f3f131&vxp=mtr

Easy to repair, no need to remove the door panel.

2. Your new key, you do not need to lock or unlock the door from outside, you do this from inside the car with the keyfob. See my signature below for Door Lock issues, bmwgm5 site has info on the procedure.

3. The glove box lock, good luck, there is an electrical solenoid to lock the glovebox when the car is locked. Very different than a coupe or sedan. If the glove box latch has been pulled really hard it could be broken. Make sure that both of the door are unlocked before trying to open the glove box as I recall??
