My Ride: 2000 bmw 323i
So after nine hours today,

My front suspension is done and smooth as hell. Replaced struts, strut mounts, boots on struts (I know its called something different but im beyond exhausted and cant find the box) and the rubber bumpers between the mount and spring. I reused the springs and it was a pain in the ass to compress them and transfer them. After having an incident prior with them I was hesitant and it took awhile. All this because of a noise I started to hear. I took my bimmer into a dealership thinking I'd be fine with them diagnosing it and I was wrong. They told me it was a blow strut. Sweet thats alright I can do that soon. I did it today after not driving my bimmer for about 4 weeks and I was beyond disappointed. Granted my strut did blow, The noise i was hearing wasnt that. My uncle who helped me install the struts and other parts told me its the cv joints. Anyway, im happy its all done but not so happy I still need to do something else. I was hoping the problem was diagnosed properly and it wasn't. Hopefully this problem with the cv joints is the actual problem. Now on to my two questions. Is there a different term for these? And how difficult might it be to do it myself? Also, I am beyond happy with the bilsteins I put in today. The ride was the smoothest ive ever had in my bimmer today. Aside from the rattling from 20mph-25mph which is still there :///

unless you have an Xi you're not gonna have cv joint noises in the front by your struts. if it's in the rear I'd be more concerned it's not a torn rear subframe floor mounting block on your 323. which is not uncommon.

Not sure exactly what your issue is but i guess you'd know if it was your rear shock mounts after doing the suspension. if your CV boots are torn it usually leads to the CV joints going bad from contamination. CV joints are basically flexible metal cages with bearings in them packed in grease that allow the axles to twist to angles.
